Jesse passed away this afternoon

Was all excited to get to the beach for a walk.
She never saw it coming.
Didn't suffer getting sick.
Poor deaf dog.

is no more.

R.I.P. we shared some good times (traveling)

Go ... and find ... Roughenough

Eat, sniff,
pee like a boy and cog your leg or do a girly pee.
Run, herd, ankle bite, and stare

Wait and stay, go to sleep
sweet dreams muppet, puppy

Love for always xxx Esa

Tomorrow is next year

Just another day really.

Many people take time to reflect and set goals, trying to be better in the future.
Time to start ticking of their bucket list. Planning what to do, where to go.

I just take it a day at a time, enjoying what I have -family and friends, a 100 years of stuff.
I live merrily and appreciate changes around me, making new connections.
There are many things I like, do I want them (yes) do I need them (no), so I go with the flow.
Accepting invites, catching up, looking after and forward.
Read, write and watch, observe and reminisce.
Taking photos to be a sort of memory, a way to share my life.

Wishing you all a GRAND 2012
Look after each other :)

Blessing of the animals in Titirangi

Jesse my blue heeler was blessed this morning of 9/10/'11 with me her owner by a friend Lindsay (former president of the Waitakere Central Community Arts Council).
Together with many dogs and 2 cats we sat in the Anglican church.
To remember St Francis who lived around 1200 and loved animals like brothers and sisters.
The 4th October is known as "Dierendag" Day of the animals in The Netherlands and dedicated to his love of all creatures.

Contaminated with love, the five of us.

And the Cat said:

On a cloud, living in the now. It's important, not many people can do it. I am going there, full storm ahead, making it happen. Buzzing with love, going back to nature, appreciating and conserving, settling on the land, some travels when we feel like it.

I am changing myself, no more adding to the hundred years of stuff. Time to hand over and let go, 60 years of my parents and 40 years of mine some still in boxes. If you haven't used it in the last year dump it, that is the problem. A place for everything and everything in it's place. I've made the click, there is a reason to act.

Sooner rather than later I will get to my goal, move out and move on. Physical and emotional surrender, the pause button has been pushed. A slow start is made, play's on, not fast forward. Do it with intention, consider the options, follow your heart, send it out and it will all fall into place. Doors open when you least expect it, I went in and am loving it. Electrifyingly ecstatic, so this is what it is, the real thing, finally.

20 10 or Two Thousand and Ten?

I used to say two o(o)h (oh) nine, so for me it will be twenty ten.
I think it fits with all the shortcuts we make at the moment, texting and typing

I like playing with words abbreviations and letters. And do it a lot what made me decide to start a poetry blog, where I’ll place my poem of the day/week/month.
Using the letters of the day as the start letters of each line. In that way there will be a restriction to what kept me busy.
I will use the World Wide Web as a reminder for myself and to share my writing with all of you out there. This is where you can find Esa’s poetry http://esa-poetry.blogspot.com/2010/01/new-years-day.html

Enjoy.

Incontinent Jesse

What to do with Jesse, my blue heeler cross now she's getting incontinent.
She also has a growth on her muzzle, and according to the vet it's not normal to have growths there. Cutting and testing to be done.

But I don't want to go through all sorts of tests, she can't talk and hates the vet.
She get's in a panic, her hair falls out, she's tense and her eyes tell me enough.

Poor Jesse, why, why now. I don't need more hurt...
I adopted her 3 years ago after her owner died, and she's travelled with us many miles on the back seat, sometimes on a lap in the front.

I'm worried and see her going down hill, although she's still a happy active dog.
Thinking of putting her down gets me in a state...

Jess, Jesse, Jester Fester a 3P dog (Patient, Protective, Possessive)
The scavenger, cleaning thrown away bones and edibles from parks, parking places etc.

She had her babysitters who looked after her when we could not take her with us.
Every one loved her, especially kids, she was adorable, only snapped when in a corner and confused as cattle dogs do.

Thanks for being my mate, my shadow, waiting for me in the car. Eager to go out and run.
Not happy to be left home alone (have the curtains to proof it)
Quite happy to wait on a chain.

Dementia

Just read "Contented Dementia" a book by Oliver James, with a very interesting solution to a very frustrating disease.

Tips for the client (the one diagnosed with dementia)
1. From now on don't worry - stay with what you already know and love
2. Appoint the person you most trust as your advocate - and ask them to read this book while you get on with your life
3. oret about the diagnosis - you're very good at forgetting now, so use this skill to forget about dementia and get on with enjoying your life once more.

The method is a bit awkward to start with, but gets easier once you get the hang of it. Basicly it's keeping the client happy "with a green light on"by using:
SPECAL = Specialized Early Care for Alzheimer's
SPECALCARE = Continuing Acceptable Recycled Experiences
and SPECALSENSE (memories from long ago are still there, largely undamaged and intact) based on the 3 commandments for the carer:
1. Don't ask questions,
2. Learn from them as the experts on their disability
3. Always agree with everythig they say, never interupting them. (never contradict)

Storing of new memories is hardly possible with dementia, it's like storing blank photographs. Asking questions about recent activities will get the client frustrated because they can't recall, and they know they're missing the link. SO it's better to use old photo's from the clients happy past and relive it over and over. Loop the past in the present and keep them content.

Primary theme:
SPOT a hobby or event that they like to talk about and let them do so (even if it's repetitive) find words that you can link them back to this subject and there won't be any aggression. Make them the expert. Don't fake because they will pick up body language and know what you do. Just think that it's in their best interest ad both of you will be happier if there is no argument or frustration.
Use VERBAL PING-PONG to keep them on their subject, using their words and sentences. Also find gestures/manerisms and or objects to remind them about it and let (keep) them talk(ing).

Health theme:
Find a hospital topic in the past with a positive outcome and use that for GP appointments or to have the client take drugs, rest etc.

Find explanations for Departure, Absence and Presence of a third party in your absence that you can use over and over again. When you're a visitor use SPECAL CARE and SENSE, and act casual.

Altruistic trigger:
is only needed to get out of a red-panic situation to calm the client so (s)he can make sense of it all.

It all starte in Burford SPECAL Centre email info@specalburford.co.uk
or look at: www.specal.co.uk and www.oliver-james-books.com
